The blue screen memory dump error is one of the most common errors faced by computer users. This error appears while booting or working on the Windows system. This error indicates that system is no longer functioning correctly. This blue screen memory dump error is also called as Blue Screen of Death (BSoD). Causes of Blue Screen Memory Dump Error

This Blue Screen Memory Dump Error occurs mainly due to hardware and software failures. The most common reason for the error is incompatible hardware or newly installed hardware devices. If all hardware devices the connected correctly then the cause of error may be software installed recently or outdated drivers. Sometimes, corrupt registry files, damaged hard drive and invalid bios setups may also cause this error. Viruses or malware threats can also be the factors causing the blue screen memory dump error.  Let’s discuss how to resolve the memory dump error.

There are several methods, mentioned below to fix the error:

1.    Remove Hardware and Drivers Faults

Make sure that the hardware devices and drivers you are using are compatible with your motherboard. Check all the connections. Resolve any cause of processor overheating. Update your installed drivers to latest version. If the error still persists then it might be due to software issues.

2.    Fix Software issues

If you have installed any new software recently and after that blue screen memory dump error has appeared than this software may be causing the error. It might be that the software is incompatible. So try to remove faulty files and programs or uninstall the software.

3.    Fix Registry problems

In some cases, corrupt or damaged registry files also cause the error. Some new software or drivers might have changed the registry values or viruses have made them corrupt. You can also restore previous registry backup files from backup you have made. You can also restore your system to a previous good condition by using a system restore point. However, for our good, Microsoft Windows provides solutions to repair registry files automatically.

A.    Run Automatic Repair

Follow the below steps to run automatic repair for registry:

       Open the Settings > Update and Security > Click Recovery

       In Advanced Startup > Click Restart now

       Click Troubleshoot

       Click Automated Repair

       Run as administrator

       Automatic Repair should now start and your computer may reboot during this process’

B.   Refresh your system

The Refresh option will not affect your files, but backup your data before you do a refresh. Follow the below steps:

       Go to the Settings > Update and Security > Click Recovery

       In Reset This PC section, click Get started

       Click Keep My Files

       Follow the instructions to complete the procedure

C.   Reset your system

This option will remove all your personal files and delete any settings or configuration you did on your computer. You must take back-up of your data before resetting your PC. Follow these steps:

       Go to the Settings > Update and Security > Click Recovery

       In Reset This PC section, click Get started

       Click Remove Everything

       Follow the instructions to complete the procedure

D.   Run System File Checker Scan

System File Checker is like a panacea for almost all software errors in Windows system. Blue Screen of Death (Memory Dump) error also can be fixed by SFC scan.

4.    Resolve Intermittent Errors

Sometimes Hard disk might be defective in this case run hardware diagnostic program and try to find-out the reason of problems. Check your CMOS and memory modules also. Check-out for overheating issues, if any with the processor.

5.    Scan for Viruses and Malware

Also remove viruses and malware threats from your computer which may damage registry files and cause this error. Run a full scan for viruses and malware, remove them if detected.

6.    Reset Page File

If error persists even after performing above cares then try to reset your page file. Follow these steps to reset your page file:

       Go to “This PC” > Properties>advance system settings > settings

       Advance > Now click on “change” button

       Click custom size > go to “initial size” box and make size of page file ‘0’.

       Now go to “maximum size” box and make the size of page file to ‘0’.

       Click set, and restart your computer.

       Run a “Defrag”, once the defrag is done go back to page file settings above mentioned

       Click on change button

       For the Initial and maximum page file size make it 1.5 times the amount of RAM of your computer.

       Click Set, and Restart your computer again.

       You have made a new page file and fixed the blue screen memory dump error by yourself.  Additional care must be taken while performing the above steps.
